Q. Does this competition have an alternative purpose or a useful purpose for The Little Theatre?
A. The purpose of the contest is we hope that students will become more involved and engaged with the Arts and more in particular with performing arts.
Q. Can teams or individuals enter?
A. Either individual students or teams of students can enter. All entry requirements apply whether entry is from team or individual.
Q. Can more than one entry be submitted by a team or an individual?
A. An individual or team may submit more than one entry, but each entry will need to be entered as a stand alone entry and all entry requirements must be met for each entry that is submitted. In the case of an individual that is also a member of a team, the individual cannot submit on behalf of the team. That is to say, the individual may submit an entirely different from the teams, but cannot submit the work of a team as if it were the work of an individual.
Q. Will all submissions be jpeg (.jpg) files?
A. All 2 dimensional art (sketches, drawings, paintings, etc.) needs to be converted to a jpg image by taking a digital photograph of it at the highest resolution possible. All art will first be reviewed as image files and only winners will be contacted to request the art as it was originally created.

To enter, all contestants must first register and receive notification that their registration has been accepted. Before registering, read the following to avoid registration errors.

2D ARTWORK: Regarding the initial size limitations on image files for 2 D artwork:
All image files for the initial entry should be submitted only as .JPG and be sized to fit on a 20 inch monitor screen. The file size (in KB or MB) will vary depending on the size of the original artwork and the media in which it was created. For judging the art, images need to fit on a monitor screen so judges can view it as a whole instead of having to look at parts of it because it is so large.
Later, if the art is selected for an award, we’ll need the original artwork to be delivered to The Little Theatre for exhibit purposes. For any questions on the submission format, please contact the contest administrator at:

IMPORTANT NOTE: For all students, a student release form must be signed at the bottom of the registration page and mailed to the above address with the School Statement.. For students under the age of 18, a parent or guardian should sign a hard copy of the student release form and mail it to the address above. We will email you a pdf registration form on request. You will need to print it, fill it and send it along with your entry fee. This can also be done collectively through your Schools.
CONTEST RULES
Note: Student submissions shall be treated as being free of restrictions and limitations on their use, reproduction, and publication.
Eligibility
• Students enrolled full time in primary, middle and high schools in Chennai are eligible to enter.
• Team entries are accepted, but team size limited to 5 students for Category C and to 2 students in Category B. Category A is an individual entry. Teams may be from different schools or different classrooms within a school. Team entries require student release form from each team member. Each team member has to fill in a separate entry form paying the required entry fee of only Rs 100.
Due Dates
• All entries are due on June 25, 2011. Registration is open through June15th, but entries must be submitted in full no later than noon on June 27th.
Requirements
• Artist statement of originality--this is an explanation in 300 words or less describing what inspired the art.
• School statement to endorse student entry as original - this is your Class teacher or Principal's statement saying the art is original. This signed statement should be scanned and saved as a pdf file prior to registering for entry.
• Release form with complete contact information
• Art must meet size limitations for on-line submission, but there is no size limit on the original
• All entries require a short title for the on-line gallery. Short title is limited to 70 characters for the on-line registration form.
What kind of art is eligible?
All two and three- dimensional art, regardless of category or media, will initially be submitted electronically as 300 dpi jpeg images. Digital art has separate guidelines. Using the digital submission protocols, the following categories of art will be accepted:

Students must submit short stories and scripts in English. No other languages will be accepted. Word count: No more than 1500 words for short story and up to 3000 words for the short film script. Entries must be endorsed by your school to verify that they are the work of the student and not copied from any other source. All other registration requirements should be met such as artist statement and school endorsement letter.
